This Privacy Policy explains how Maecine ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our website, mobile experience, and related services (the "Platform"), including browsing and buying products, booking services from vendors, and using vendor or seller tools.
By using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, phone number, password (stored in hashed form), and delivery address(es).
Order and booking information. Products purchased, services booked, appointment/booking dates, order history, returns, disputes, and reviews you submit.
Payment information. Payments are processed by third-party payment processors (including Paystack and mobile money providers such as MTN MoMo, Vodafone Cash, and AirtelTigo Money). We do not store full card numbers or mobile money PINs on our servers; we retain limited transaction metadata (e.g. amount, status, reference number) needed to fulfil and reconcile orders.
Vendor information. If you register as a vendor, we collect business details, identification documents, bank/payout details, product and service listings, and sales performance data.
Usage information. Pages visited, searches, wishlist and cart activity, device and browser type, IP address, and approximate location, collected automatically as you use the Platform.
Communications. Messages you send through our contact form, support tickets, dispute reports, and customer reviews.

2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account, and authenticate your access to the Platform;
- Process orders, bookings, payments, refunds, and returns;
- Communicate with you about orders, bookings, promotions, flash deals, and account activity;
- Connect buyers with vendors and facilitate fulfilment, including sharing necessary order details (such as name, delivery address, and phone number) with the relevant vendor;
- Operate loyalty and engagement features such as coupons, credits, referrals, spin rewards, and group-buy campaigns;
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, disputes, and violations of our Terms of Service;
- Improve, personalize, and secure the Platform, and develop new features;
- Comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Vendors, for orders and bookings you place with them (e.g. your name, contact details, delivery address, and order/booking details);
- Payment processors (such as Paystack and mobile money network operators) to complete transactions;
- Service providers who help us operate the Platform, such as hosting, email delivery, analytics, and customer support tools, under confidentiality obligations;
- Delivery and logistics partners to fulfil and track shipments;
- Regulators or authorities where required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, users, or the public;
- A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy continuing to apply.
4. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Platform, comply with legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize it.
5. Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards â including encrypted connections (SSL), hashed passwords, and access controls â to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law (including Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843)), you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or update your personal information via your Account settings;
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal information, subject to legal retention requirements;
- Object to or restrict certain processing, including marketing communications;
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, without affecting prior lawful processing;
- Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana or your local data protection authority.

7. Marketing Communications
We may send you promotional emails, SMS, or push notifications about deals, new arrivals, and offers. You can opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link in our emails or by updating your notification preferences in your account. We will still send you essential service communications (e.g. order confirmations) even if you opt out of marketing.
8. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via the Platform or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
